“Battle of Buckhead” Pitts Warriors Against Lovett School In Scrimmage

Warrior fans are encouraged to attend Friday’s football scrimmage that pits North Atlanta against the Lovett School for “The Battle of Buckhead.”

North Atlanta’s gridiron team is poised for a rebound from last year’s winless campaign and the scrimmage against Lovett will be the first test to see what kind of progress has been made.

“After three great weeks of summer preparation of voluntary workouts, the guys have been serious in the weight room,” said Coach Tony Troutman.

Team members have been practicing after school Monday through Thursday from 4 to 7:15 p.m. Their coaches say they’ve seen significant improvements in player physical and mental states.

Players, long accustomed to practicing against themselves with inter-squad scenarios, are excited about gauging their progress against a school just across the street. Senior Dominique Jenkins thinks the team is stronger and will put up strong fight against the Lions. “Lovett won state last year so the scrimmage will give us a chance to see what were made of,” he said.

The scrimmage starts on Warrior Field at 7:30. Ticket prices are $5 for adults; $2 for students and children (aged five to 12). Prior to and during the event, food trucks will be there to feed hungry fans and to add to the festive feeling that surrounds the inaugural event of the 2014 football season. Proceeds from ticket sales will go toward the NAHS Football Booster Club.
