The Low-Down On Friday’s Spirit Week Pep Rally

In case you have missed the crazy costumes, soaring school spirit, and theme days, this week is homecoming North Atlanta! Concluding the homecoming festivities this week, there will be a pep rally during fourth period on Friday. Ever since the first pep rally, North Atlanta students have been eagerly anticipating the next one.

Dr. Deanna Hasty, SGA advisor, has been preparing for the rally with SGA student leaders. The pep rally will be held the latter part of 4th Period, from 2:50 to 3:45 p.m. Everyone in the gym can expect music, student performances, cool giveaways, and exciting dance routines. “I can’t give away all the secrets and happenings of the next pep-rally,” Hasty notes, “but it’s going to be crazy outstanding.”

As far as performances go, students can expect to see a competitive cheer routine, Ms. Tamara Irving’s dance students, many athletic teams, school mascot Maximus the Warrior, along with the usual spirit-rousing performances by the North Atlanta Warrior Marching Band.

During the first pep rally, the sophomores won the spirit stick but according to Hasty, the class will get a serious run for its money on Friday. When asked who the favorite is to win, she enthusiastically replied “Freshmen!”

The class with the most spirit wins the spirit stick, but for this pep rally there will be a slight twist. All week long, first period teachers have been surveying class spirit participation. Class participation is tracked for Tacky Tourist Day, Character Day, Sports day, Throwback Thursday and Warrior Spirit Day. The numbers will be factored into the overall spirit award at the pep rally.

It’s Spirit Week. That means it’s time for everyone to scream their lungs out at the pep rally, to show your pride every day, and to embody – in whatever way feels right – school pride. “Somos Guerreros!”
