Woolfolk shares his signing day with family and friends.

Surrounded by friends and family in Dr. Taylor’s office, senior Rob Woolfolk happily penned his signature on the dotted line.  Woolfolk signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse next fall at Virginia Military Institute early Wednesday morning.

After being recruited this summer at a lacrosse tournament, Woolfolk began to look at VMI, along with other colleges including Mercer and High Point. Woolfolk comments, “I chose VMI because when I was there the coach said something that really stood out to to my mind. He said, “If you graduate from VMI, you either in four years will be protecting our country or running our country.” And I was like yeah, those are two pretty good options that I would have there.”

“My recruitment began this summer. I was at a tournament and I scored a goal,” humbly he adds, “Somehow. I don’t even know how that happened. But anyways, VMI started talking to me right after that.”

Athletic Director, Coach Doug Britten, remarks on Woolfolk’s accomplishment, “It was great to see Rob sign with VMI. I think he has a great opportunity to go get a great education playing lacrosse. I think it’s great when any of our students get that type of opportunity.”

Excited about his college choice, Woolfolk says, “VMI is just like on a whole other level, in terms of academics.” At North Atlanta, Woolfolk is in the IB programme and has played varsity football and lacrosse.
