Say Cheese: Picture Day 2019 Was the Ultimate Photo Challenge

Photo Finish: Picture Day 2019 runners Payton Jones and Russell Makepeace make sure each student gets in line to take their photos for the yearbook.

The challenge? Taking a photo of 2,100 North Atlanta students over the course of one 90-minute class period. And for North Atlanta, on Sept. 4, that challenge was taken up by 12 Cady Studios photographers, 20 Picture Day runners, and one harried yearbook adviser. “Picture Day is always a challenge but somehow we always manage to get by,” said Jack Stenger, journalism teacher and yearbook faculty adviser. “There’s a lot of running around on everyone’s part, but that’s where the fun is.”
Thanks to cooperative students, patient teachers, and a dozen efficient Cady photographers stationed across the building, those within the building had been photographed. Faculty, staff, administration, and students will make it into the yearbook. And this unfiltered photo essay – done by Wire contributing photographer Mady Mertens – captures the excitement of the entire event. Smile, North Atlanta!
