Photo Essay: Wire Staff Photographer Captures Westlake Game – Featuring Fans!

Senior Armari Hodges takes the field as Game Captain overseeing the coin toss. A two-year starter and three-year varsity player, Hodges says he just feels blessed to be on the field during this time of COVID, “I feel honored to represent my team, and it touches my heart that my coaches and teammates trust me. That’s what it’s all about.”

In the midst of this pandemic, it was nice to finally cover a football game that seemed somewhat normal. But what do I mean by that? It was a game with fans! The match up was North Atlanta’s away game against the Westlake High School Lions. The event was — I must say — a bittersweet one. As I stood on the field with my camera, I realized that it may be the only game I shoot with spectators in the stands. Who could have ever imagined a season like this at the beginning of 2020? It’s been a challenging time at our high school and in our country, and I’m so grateful to be able to do what I adore doing and that is to photographically cover the Warriors for the Warrior Wire. I hope you enjoy my photos and the captions that accompany them. Go Dubs!
