The Dubs are no stranger to D1 talent with many athletes in the past reaching the next level. Becoming a college athlete, something their younger selves have always dreamed of. Many athletes coming into the year have already achieved this feat. Three major achievers coming into their senior year are Molly Laing, Samantha Bailey, and Laila Amos. These Dubs have put a ton of effort not only into their craft, but the recruitment process too. At last, they will be able to showcase their talents at the next level.
Ever since she was four, Molly Laing has spent her weekends on the soccer field. Since she first kicked a ball, she knew she never wanted to stop. As time went on her love for the game never waivered. Laing has dedicated a mass amount of time to her academics and athletics allowing her to pursue both at Johns Hopkins University. Even on a demanding schedule she always had time for soccer. “Between club practice and private training, growth has been exponential as I am learning from the best,” Laing said.
Generally college athletes start their sport at a young age, but Samantha Bailey had other plans. Bailey began her volleyball career in 8th grade after Covid-19; the late start had zero delay on her dream. Since starting, Bailey’s hard work has led to her not only becoming a star for North Atlanta, but also her club team. After receiving major attention in the recruitment process and attending loads of camps, she announced her commitment to California Baptist University. “Going to college to play the sport I love has always been a dream of mine,” Bailey said. “I really do just love the sport.”
Just like the rest, Laila Amos started her sports journey at a young age. At the start she did not solely play volleyball, she competed in other sports. At some point, Amos would have to pick one sport to play; her first true love, volleyball, stood out among the rest. Amos spends all of her free time at the gym or practicing. The idea of not going to the next level never was a thought for her. Her dream was achieved after committing to playing volleyball at the University of Texas El Paso. “I’m so in love with the sport that I can’t see myself ever not playing,” Amos said.
These athletes have learned to dominate in their sport and will be able to showcase it at the next level. The hard work and dedication they put into playing at the next level is no joke and all because they love their sport.
