The well-known Canadian singer, who goes by the name of “The Weeknd,” is currently on his North American tour, jumping city to city for performances. A few weeks ago, he stepped foot into Atlanta, Georgia, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium along with special guests Playboi Carti and Mike Dean. Out of the thousands of people that were there, some North Atlanta students enjoyed their downtime to step foot into the concert atmosphere for the night of their lives. Although it may have been “Hurry Up Tomorrow” that was performed, these students didn’t want it to end.

Senior Hassan Saadi said the experience of the concert was unforgettable. Although it isn’t his top concert of all time (Ed Sheeran gets that title), this one was a true favorite. Feelings of “post-concert” depression hit hard the next day, as a normal day of school feels bland compared to the thrill of the night. The concert’s focus was his newest album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” but the surprise setlists also included some of his well-known older songs like “Starboy,” “Take My Breath,” and “Creepin.”
This gave Hassan a true Weeknd fan experience and prompted him to give the rest of his songs the chance they deserve. Going into the concert, Hassan said he “didn’t do anything crazy, just had on my everyday wear. But as soon as those lights started flashing and the music started bumping, I threw on my new Weeknd t-shirt and entered the moment.”

Sophomore Piper Redmond couldn’t agree more. Despite being an avid concert-goer, this one was by far her absolute favorite. No concert is complete without a best friend. Luckily, Piper’s best friend, Jayla Alexis, accompanied her on this legendary night. Piper grew up loving The Weeknd’s music after her mom first introduced her to it at seven years old. Now at fifteen, seeing him live at a concert was nothing short of a dream come true. Like Hassan, Piper bought a t-shirt from the concert merchandise, unfortunately ruined by the pouring rain later that night. “Everything was absolutely perfect from his performance to the acoustics to the LIGHTS,” Piper said. “The lights were incredibly well done.”
Overall, the concert was a smashing hit, highlighting the unique music tastes of North Atlanta students.
