Some weeks blend into the blur of high school. Others stand out. But there’s one week in particular that tops the rest: Homecoming Week. The energy is impossible to miss, with every corner of NAHS buzzing with excitement. Between wild theme days, a glamorous dance, and a packed crowd under the Friday Night Lights. Homecoming is the week that turns regular days into memories that last a lifetime.
From cozy pajamas to vintage outfits, this year’s homecoming themes give students various ways to show off their school spirit. Pajama day keeps things laid back, Cribs and Canes turns the halls into a mix of babies and grandparents, and White Lie Wednesday has students writing clever jokes across white t-shirts. Then comes Throwback Thursday, where students step back into their favorite decade. To finish the week strong, ATL Day has students repping their favorite cities. For senior Laila Fofana, White Lie Wednesday is the theme she’s most excited for. “I think White Lie Wednesday will be the most fun,” she said. “I’m pretty short, so I’m going to put ‘I’m six foot seven’ on my t-shirt.”
No homecoming week is complete without a football game. The Dubs will take the field on Friday night, and students are buzzing with excitement. Decked out in red, white, and blue, NAHS students are ready to take over the student section. For senior Jackson Pechter, the night feels especially meaningful as he experiences his last homecoming game. “Football games are a lot more fun as a senior so I’m really excited to be in the student section,” he said. “USA is also a classic theme so I’m really glad it’s back for homecoming.”
To cap off the week, the homecoming dance will bring students together for a night of music, dancing, photos, and fun. The gym will be transformed with decorations, giving everyone a chance to dress up and celebrate. For many, the dance is the highlight of homecoming because it brings together the entire school outside the classroom. Freshman Sebastian Almeida-Hall is especially looking forward to it. “It’s my first high school homecoming week, but I already know I’m most excited for the dance,” he said. “All of my friends and my girlfriend are going, so it’ll be fun.”
As the week wraps up, students will carry more than just photos and memories. Homecoming brings out the best Dub spirit, uniting everyone through laughter, competition, and traditions. For the Warriors, this year’s celebration is another reminder of how much pride lives within NAHS.
