Temperatures drop, the leaves change colors, and fall begins. People run to get their favorite pumpkin spice drinks, but the question is, where do they go? Both Dunkin and Starbucks roll out great fall menus with delicious seasonal treats, but which do people actually prefer?
Different people go to coffee shops for different things: fun drinks, study tables, and meeting up with friends. Most cafes have a wide variety of drink options, but have very few food choices. Freshman Reese Ballard likes going to both Starbucks and Dunkin, but only when she has the opportunity to. She goes to each store for different things, but she sticks to Dunkin when she’s looking for something to satisfy her hunger. “I think Dunkin has the better food options because I feel like it’s more filling food, and I see Starbucks as just snack food,” Ballard said.
Both stores bring amazing items to offer, but where do people go for each craving? Dunkin is infamous for its wide variety of donuts and snacks, while Starbucks has unique drinks with a lot of customization. Sophomore Lily Flemming is easily an admirer of pumpkin spice. She looks forward to when fall menus release each year, because it means she can go back to her comfort foods. Being a fan of most things related to fall, she is sometimes indecisive choosing what to get and where. “I love the Starbucks pumpkin chai latte, but Dunkin’s pumpkin munchkins and buns are so good,” said Flemming.
Fall is all things cozy and nice, with pumpkin patches, corn mazes, apple picking, haunted houses, candy corn, and pumpkin spice. As the seasonal craze starts and ends, customers unconsciously make a decision about which store they want to go to. Whether it is the fun and unique drinks at Starbucks with their warm atmosphere, or Dunkin with its delicious food and affordable prices.
