For many, the end of high school means the end of competitive athletics. At North Atlanta, the Warriors foster a competitive sports scene that leads some to continue their craft at the next level. The class of 2023 saw nine athletes put pen to paper on National Signing Day, including:

  • Antonio Anderson and Isaiah Drake, Georgia Tech (Baseball)
  • Virginia Odom, University of Georgia (Soccer)
  • Jonathan French and Sims DeLong, Washington & Lee University (Baseball)
  • Mia Hsu, Cornell University (Fencing)
  • Randolph Smith, Washington & Lee University (Football)
  • Cecelia Smith, George Washington University (Softball)
  • Alyssa England, Furman University (Soccer)

From the baseball diamond to the soccer pitch, the Dubs have talent across the board. Their commitments are a culmination of the early mornings, late nights, and countless weekends dedicated to practices and tournaments. Their coaches, while sad to see their stars go, are happy that their players–and program–are getting the recognition they deserve. “The amount of talent coming in and out of North Atlanta says a lot about the quality of the school and its coaches,” said signee Jonathan French. “Playing for the Dubs was an honor and a blessing.”

Representing a school at the collegiate level has been a dream for these athletes since they were little. Getting recognized and generating interest is a challenge in itself, but ultimately receiving an offer is something every athlete wants but very few experience. These nine represent what it means to be a Warrior. They compete, not only with their opponents but themselves. They are constantly striving to be better than they were yesterday. Each signee knows that signing to their respective college is not just a commitment to play, but a commitment to winning. “Soccer is everything to me,” said signee Virginia Odom. “I plan to give everything I have to my school.”

While some of these athletes are still competing for the Warriors, Signing Day marked a major milestone and an end of an era for every one of them. However, a new chapter is just beginning. For the school, these athletes have left behind a legacy that student-athletes will look to follow. As outstanding representations of the school, Anderson, Drake, Odom, French, DeLong, Hsu, Smith (x2), and England are on to their next programs, where they look to have a similar impact.
