North Atlanta’s 2023 prom was “fit for a king,” hosting more than 700 students and 30 faculty and staff members in a Louisana-style, Mardi Gras-themed wonderland. On April 22, upperclassmen Dubs, guests, and volunteers spent a night in New Orleans’s biggest carnival, celebrating another year of fantastic event planning and Warrior spirit. NOLA, or rather The Whitley in Buckhead, Atlanta, housed an array of French Quarter-inspired events, including a New Orleans-style Jazz band, NAHS Dance team performance, a life-sized ‘Operation’ game table, and stilt-walking guest entertainers. Cuisine, catered by the Whitley, featured Mardi-inspired mini bites and a diverse beverage selection, which everyone unanimously enjoyed.

The event was coordinated with the supreme planning skills of the NAHS Student Government Association (SGA), specifically junior members. Teacher coordinators Jennifer Page and Jennifer Robinson, SGA president Kameron Smith, and SGA’s juniors spent more than six months preparing to present a Mardi Gras celebration to remember, gifting the finished project to SGA’s senior members, and everyone else there.

The event was a large success on the part of the diligent efforts of students, staff, and volunteers, making it an undeniable night to remember. As the (NOLA) French say, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” and the Dubs certainly let the good times roll on that magical Saturday night back in April.
