Adventure Awaits: Junior Carolyn Jahn enjoys a hike with her family in Sweden.

As the school year comes to a close and summer break nears, Dubs are gearing up for some extraordinary adventures abroad. Various trips have been planned, from beaches to mountains, and everything in between. For the graduating seniors, the countdown to this momentous occasion is even more intense, with their last day of classes set for May 10th—a date etched in their minds as the gateway to a summer filled with endless possibilities.

Amidst the excitement of impending travels, students are also busy making plans to reunite with family and friends scattered across the globe. It is like a visit to home away from home, making it a memory to cherish for life. Junior Carolyn Jahn is preparing for her beloved trip to Sweden. Jahn visits her family every couple of summers, which makes this upcoming trip highly anticipated. She will prepare herself for an island getaway filled with laying in the sun and catching up with family and friends. “I cannot wait to get off the plane and give all of my family a hug,” Jahn said. “Sweden is such a beautiful place filled with beautiful memories for me.”

For others, trips are remaining domestic. Junior Sophia Rose is preparing for her job as a summer camp counselor at a sleep away camp in Maine. Rather than relaxing beaches or strenuous activities, Rose will forge bonds between herself and the younger generation, and reconnect to nature away from the classroom. While school can be a way to bond with classmates and teachers, Rose will enjoy her time away from the bustling halls and is looking forward to a quiet and relaxing summer. “I’m so excited to not be stressing about my IB classes,” Rose said. “A quiet summer spent reading on my breaks and telling scary ghost stories by campfires while making s’mores is much more up my alley!”

Seniors are making a bang on their summer trips as they say goodbye to high school and embrace the new chapter of their life they are about to embark on. This summer signifies crossing a bridge and maturing, as well as saying goodbye to life-long friends for the first time. Senior Luke McCullough is celebrating this summer with an incredible trip to Japan, one that he has been looking forward to for years. “I’m super excited to be able to visit Japan as I’ve always wanted to go as long as I can remember,” he said. “I’m looking forward to immersing myself in the culture and cuisine.”

From the sun-drenched beaches of faraway shores to the tranquil beauty of domestic retreats, each student’s summer plans promise to be a unique and memorable experience. For graduating seniors, this summer holds particular significance, marking not only the end of their high school journey but also the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their lives. As they bid farewell to familiar hallways and cherished friendships, they embrace the opportunity to explore new cultures, forge lasting memories, and discover the boundless possibilities that await them beyond the confines of academia. Whether it’s reconnecting with loved ones abroad, finding solace in the tranquility of nature, or embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, this summer is poised to be a time of growth, reflection, and unforgettable experiences for every member of the North Atlanta High School community.
