Shake Shack’s classic hamburger and creamy shake have raised the stakes when it comes to picking where NAHS students want to eat.

In September 2014 a Shake Shack restaurant opened on Peachtree Road, and since that opening the restaurant has been a hot topic. The burger joint is located in the Shops of Buckhead, a new trendy shopping center in Atlanta that mostly features high-end stores.

The first Shake Shack was a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan, and quickly became a popular attraction. Shortly after, the first restaurant opened in Manhattan in 2004. Today there are over 70 Shake Shacks in the United States and even locations in Turkey, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

The Shake Shack menu offers a wide variety of burgers, hot dogs, shakes, and custard flavors. The most popular burger, offered at every Shake Shack location, is the ShackBurger: a simple cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. A ‘Shroom Burger is also offered for vegetarians. This crisp-fried Portobello mushroom stuffed with muenster and cheddar cheese is another raved about item.

The trendy eatery first caught my eye when the Shops of Buckhead opened. I was window shopping and noticed a huge line out the door of Shake Shack. It seemed to be the only place in the entire shopping plaza that was attracting any attention.

During my first experience at Shake Shack, I ordered the ShackBurger and a side of fries. The burger was delicious. I think it was the Shack Sauce that really completed it. The crinkle-cut fries were also good, but not nearly as good as the burger. I also shared a caramel milkshake with my friend. Although the fries weren’t the best, the milkshake was a must-get. It was thick, rich and left a good taste in my mouth.

Along with the food being excellent, Shake Shack had an overall lively ambiance. The food came out quick and the servers were friendly. An atmospheric benefit at the Buckhead location is the second story patio, which offers diners panoramic views of the surrounding streetscape.
