The doubling of the number of vending machines this year provide a growing variation of drinks for students.

You see them everywhere you go on every other hall: the ever-popular vending machines. Many students love going to vending machines because they are hungry and need a boost of energy until lunch. Drinks are only a dollar so why not enjoy one? But there’s just one problem that many students have: They say they are not getting the full taste in these machines.

But given their preference, what exactly would Warriors like to guzzle? A district rule says that drinks cannot be caffeinated. They have to be limited or zero calories or a diet version of the regular version. Think Diet Coke compared to “The Real Thing.” Got it? This rule has created plenty of taste controversy in the minds of many. “A lot of the drinks are disgusting. I wish they had real Golden Peak tea,” said sophomore Quaneisha Germany.

Perhaps oddly enough for teenagers, water is an enduringly popular choice for vendor machine visitors. Why not? It’s the only thing that is not laced with other ingredients. “My favorite drink is Dasani water because its crystal clean and just pure,” said sophomore Tyler Shelton.

Although students don’t have a lot of power when it comes to food, snacks, or drinks at school, they did express the drinks they would like to see in the vending machines. “I would add Minute Maid lemonade to the vending machine,” said senior Nas Bryant.

An informal survey showed that lemonade is the most-missed consumer choice. And one enduring kid choice that takes some to their favorite wonder years as little shavers. “I would add Kool Aid,” said senior Myles Allen.

So, okay. Warriors, to the most important question that you’ll answer all day: Just what are you drinking?
