North Atlanta High School had an impressive turnout at the “Enchanted Castle” prom on April 15. The event was held in the luxurious Saint Regis Hotel, and more than 300 students enjoyed the Astor Ballroom setting of the beautiful hotel in the heart of Buckhead on West Paces Ferry Road.

Upon entering the ballroom students were asked to submit beads in framed boxes to pick their 2017 Prom king and Queen. After voting, there was widespread anticipation in advance of the evening’s reveal that would name the event’s royal couple. At the appointed time, the voice of history teacher Jerek Brown went across the room with the noteworthy announcement. “Our prom king and queen for 2017 are Brenton Nesbit and Morgan Staten!”

After the evening’s reveal, both seniors said there were honored and excited about being chosen by their peers. “I was excited and surprised because I felt like any of us could have been chosen,” said Nesbit.

The voting was close among candidates, it was reported. So this made the honor of being selected all the more noteworthy. “It was very unexpected and I was completely shocked. Of course I feel like it’s a great honor,” Staten said.

They are our prom royalty and their “reign” added to an elegant and noteworthy event in the life of North Atlanta. The beads went their way and the stars shone bright at the St. Regis Hotel on one magical evening for Brenton Nesbit and Morgan Staten.
