Mitch Gerding

Mitch Gerding is a senior at North Atlanta, and his love and talent for music continue to propel him forward throughout high school. Mitch explained that music played a major role in his life from very early on. “Music has always been involved in my life… I kind of grew up surrounded by it,” he said. Not only has music been a major hobby, but was also described by Mitch as a “happy place” for him. Mitch is staying focused on music this year by helping Sutton students learn songs for the approaching musical, and by preparing to perform on his own in the upcoming variety show at North Atlanta.

Mitch has been the Music Director for the middle school musical for four years. “My favorite part about helping the kids at Sutton is seeing them have fun and seeing how the process affects them, not only on a musical theatre level, but on a personal level,” he said.

Mitch also continues to listen, explore and enjoy music on his own. Currently, he is preparing to sing in the North Atlanta variety show, North Star, and expressed that he was really looking forward to performing in the show. “The three songs that I never get tired of listening to is Stronger by Kelly Clarkson, Fix You by Coldplay, and Amazing Grace.”

Whether Mitch is tapping keys on the piano, helping Sutton students learn “You Can’t Stop the Beat” for the upcoming musical, or just jamming to his own tunes, music will continue to be an essential part of who he is.
