2.6 inches of snow was all it took to send Atlanta into chaos. With 791 accidents and 100 injuries reported, the snow had devastating results, and stranded hundreds of students and teachers across the city. Below are photos that best show the snow’s effects.

1. 1-75 North was still gridlocked at 9:15 am, Jan 29. Below, police and firefighters respond to several accidents.

2. Four school buses were abandoned in the Buckhead area. Most remained unoccupied until the early afternoon, Jan 29.

3. Hundreds of drivers were forced to abandon their cars last evening. Most cars remained on the sides of roads throughout the day.

4. Accidents abounded on 1-75 North. However, 1-75 South was very clear.

5. To secure the building and assist administrators, Georgia Patrol officers came to North Atlanta High late last night and early this morning. Below, two officers grab a quick breakfast.

6. Like several other Atlanta area schools, North Atlanta was home to hundreds of students last night. 417 students and 52 administrators spent the night in the gym and the media center. Below, exhausted NAHS students sleep on cheerleading mats and talk quietly with friends.
