Learning Spanish “No Es Facil” for Me

If you have faced the challenge of learning a foreign language you know it’s not an easy task. The many rules and exceptions make any language a difficult one to learn. For me, I face the challenge of learning Spanish. Being an IB student, it is a requirement for me to learn a foreign language. Unfortunately I’m not very good at grasping the concept, which makes it challenging for me to memorize words and patterns.

The only way to become fluent in a foreign language is by finding the motivation to do so. Without motivation, memorizing important translations and rules won’t become reality. A huge motivator is knowing the importance of your particular language. For Spanish, many people living in the United States are born with Spanish as their primary language. Because so many people speak Spanish, learning it is helpful for jobs, travel, or even daily communication. For me right now, if I can keep my Spanish grade high enough, language mastery will help me get into a good college.

It’s not only me who has the struggle to learn a foreign language; many other students face the task as well. With all the work in the other classes, it’s hard to focus on any specific subject, especially a foreign language. With the school year winding down to the very end it is very important for me to be on the top of my game. I have to be focused and determined if I want to conclude the year with a decent grade. It’s a task that that is not an easy one, but one that I know I have to accomplish. I might not like it but: “Si se puede!”
