With the presidential election coming up next week, the competition between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is getting more heated. Both candidates’ supporters are passionate for them. Other voters have equal distaste for both.

There is a third-party candidate presidential race who’s been garnering some discussion, even if he’s not tracking all that strongly in the polls. Gary Johnson is the Libertarian Party nominee. He says he has a more honest viewpoint and in interviews he highlights his personal moral integrity.

Johnson was the 29th governor of New Mexico. In addition to politics, he’s been a businessman and the author of several books. No stranger to presidential races, he was the Libertarian Party’s 2012 nominee and during that election he pulled in one percent of the vote.

The Johnson campaign has been marked by several newsworthy botches including him drawing a blank during an interview when he was asked about the whereabouts of battle-torn Aleppo, Syria. He also remains in hot water for his continuing stance for legalizing marijuana. Notwithstanding his candidacy’s eyebrow-raising moments, many voters consider him a strong alternative in the presidential election. But with the election just days away, how much of a chance does he really have?

“He’s clearly unprepared, uninformed and unfit to be president,” said junior Carter Sumlin.

Even with the help of advertising, his reputation is not exactly stellar at the moment. Apart from being mostly unknown, he has demonstrated a lack of knowledge about important international cities and strategically important foreign leaders. Political commentators are saying that foreign policy is clearly not his forte.

The role of being an American president and leader of the Free World requires great skill, knowledge, not to mention the right temperament. Gary Johnson, you might have fans and even a few voters, but you just don’t seem to be cut out for the cutthroat competition. Maybe New Mexico and not the White House is the best place for you.
