Photo Essay: A Wire Staff Photographer Captures the Dubs’ Big Win

A big thumbs up from sophomore wide receiver Deshawn Merritt. When asked about his first game during this pandemic, he says “I don’t know how it feels when the offense scores or when defense gets a stop and all you hear are the fans cheering.” But he appreciates the opportunity. “It was a great experience for me, because it was my first varsity game.”

Know this about me: I love taking photographs of my North Atlanta Warriors. I approach my time on the football field as a gift — a gift that makes my heart happy. I feel so lucky to be able to do something I love so much. The players inspire me to do my very best. It’s my goal as a photographer to capture the emotion of the game, the players and coaches. Everything happens so fast on the field and getting a great photograph takes a lot of preparation and experience, but it also takes a little luck. This is my second season taking pictures on the Warrior sidelines, and I look forward to continuing to learn and grow in the field that I love. Wire readers: I hope you enjoy my work!
