The TikTok stars we all know and sometimes love have discovered a new way to add to their repertoire of income sources. Most TikTok stars initially get their fame from simple dancing or lip-syncing videos, but now, these TikTokers are attempting to broaden their horizons. TikTok stars like Nessa Barret, Dixie D’Amelio, Addison Rae, and more are stepping into the studio and launching their musical careers. With her new song release, Charli D’Amelio is joining these TikTokers and taking the newest seat on the bandwagon.

Before reaching fame, Charli D’Amelio was a normal high school student with a passion for creating content. After one of her dance videos went viral, she gained over 76 million followers, and her whole family eventually rose to stardom. In 2020, Charli’s sister Dixie took the first steps in furthering her musical career and released her first song “Be Happy.” Since then, Charli has starred on “Dancing with the Stars” and her own reality television show. The D’Amelio family has taken any and all steps to increase their popularity, but this has not been met with praise from all. “They should have just stuck to dancing,” said senior Brett McPherson.

Following in her sister’s footsteps, Charli D’Amelio recently released her first single, “If You Ask Me To,” which has received a lot of feedback from fans. Many of her followers have listened to the song and are left hesitant about whether she truly has the flair for songwriting, or is simply trying to avoid feeling left out. It seems to have become a popular trend among TikTok stars to use their platforms to promote new music heavily equipped with autotune. Senior Mya Todd is a frequent user of TikTok and has fallen prey to the never-ending advertisements and promotions for these new songs. “The same snippet of Charli’s song keeps showing up on my For You page, and it’s getting annoying,” she said.

While it’s unknown whether or not more music is to be expected from the D’Amelios, there is no doubt that they have more on the way. For the real updates on their music, make sure to check on TikTok.
