Thoughts to Words: As seniors gear up to graduate within the next couple of months, they’ve had the opportunity to leave the school with their own quotes in the yearbook. Just what messages have they chosen to leave behind?

School has been a very big presence for all seniors within the last decade of their lives. When they walk the stage come graduation, they will be leaving an important chapter that has lasted for as long as they can remember. That said, it would make sense if they wanted to leave something behind to be remembered by. In order to have some effect on the place that certainly had an effect on them, due to its everlasting presence, they have the opportunity to say one thing that can be left behind for other students of the future. Seniors are going to be leaving North Atlanta within the next few months, but what will stay is a quote by those who want to reflect on their time within this building. With all the experiences and changes that they have gone through over the years, what messages do they choose to put in the yearbook?

Since you can make your quote about pretty much anything, it’s a bit hard to come up with a quote that really feels like it fits the occasion. For that reason, a lot of seniors use broad quotes that show something that they will keep in mind for the future. “Just be yourself, you can’t beat that,” said senior Kamille Risby.

While some choose to point towards the future with their quote, others decided to reflect on their time in high school with a few choice words. The time they spent in school meant something to them, so they are going to say something about it. “I don’t know if I’ll miss this, but I will remember it,” said senior Chase Owusu.

Many students want to have an entertaining quote to leave the yearbook with as they go. If they can incorporate some kind of successful humor or originality into what they say, then they’ve succeeded. However, this leads to some seniors wanting to keep their quotes secret. “Listen, you’ll see my quote in the yearbook. You can wait until then,” said senior Jovanny Reyes.

Although seniors get to choose a quote to leave in the yearbook, they have had a much larger impact over the four years they have spent in high school than can be expressed in words. All of the personal development, cooperation, hard work, and memories throughout the years has led them to this point. There are many things they have accomplished. This is just one more addition to the list.
