As region play gets underway, the North Atlanta baseball team is already beginning to find its rhythm. After a 3-6 start in non-region games, the Warriors have turned things around when it matters most, winning back-to-back region series. With strong performances and growing confidence, the team is showing signs of improvement as they move deeper into the season.
North Atlanta opened region play with a three-game series against Forsyth Central, taking the series 2-1. The Warriors were able to bounce back from early struggles and secure key wins to start region play on a positive note. The intensity of these games proved to be a step up from non-region play. The series featured close matchups that required strong execution on both defense and offense, with players stepping up in key moments to secure wins. “Region games are just a more intense overall experience, especially on the mound,” said senior pitcher Jackson Pechter.
The momentum continued into the following week, where the Warriors faced North Forsyth and once again won the series 2-1. Adjusting to stronger competition has definitely been the challenge, but it’s been a challenge that the Dubs have faced head-on and conquered so far. For players who are new to playing on the varsity level, it can be especially difficult since they are still finding their rhythm. “It’s tough coming from losing games against worse non-region teams into one of the hardest regions for Georgia baseball,” said Lucas England.
Jackson Pechter and sophomore left-handed pitcher Cal Williamson have played a major role in securing key region wins, both pitching complete seven-inning games. Their ability to stay composed on the mound and maintain control throughout all seven innings gave the Dubs a strong advantage in high-pressure situations. Limiting runs and keeping hitters off base have helped set the tone for the team’s early success. “Although the pressure is always on, I feel accomplished knowing I got us some big wins,” Williamson said.
With two series wins already secured, North Atlanta is starting to build momentum at the right time in the season. As they continue through region play, the Warriors are focused on exceeding the limit and proving the region’s underwhelming assumptions about the Dubs wrong.
