What Did Your Teacher Do for Christmas?

Students may view teachers as boring, dull or even “out of the times”. The faculty here at North Atlanta has once again proven that they are not your average oats in the bunch. Many students travelled to outlandish countries for the beloved Christmas break and teachers were the last to be left behind.

Deanna Hasty, literature teacher, is a perfect example. “I went skiing with my sister, her boyfriend and many friends over in Crested Butte, Colorado,” she said.

Seems like staying in Atlanta was only for those with children, tying down their otherwise amazing travel plans. Band Director, Mr. Brooks just recently had a baby. “My break included having shoulder surgery and hosting Christmas brunch for family and friends at home,” he said.

Many teachers visited their families as their busy school lives don’t warrant for much travel during the year. French teacher Mr. Oliver planned to “visit family in Nashville,” as well as Dr. Murrell who, “went to hang out with my son and grandson in North Carolina.”

For some teachers like artist Ms. Brandhorst the break was not only for vacation, but for work away from school. When asking about her plans she stated, “I went to Michigan for a road trip to a mountain house to stare at the sunset for many days, all in preparation for my art show Feathers for Bullets in February.”

Whether they were working, snow bathing or visiting missed family, it obvious that the North Atlanta faculty enjoyed their Winter Break just as much as the students.
