Among the most influential students of North Atlanta High School is senior Brenton Nesbit. Throughout his high school career, he has experienced many ups and downs yet continues to dedicate himself to becoming better each day. He is known all through the school and has been labeled a good student and role model for many.

As his high school career winds down, Nesbit is reflective about his past while looking forward to the future. As the determined person he is, he has created goals and is strongly motivated to accomplish them. He plans on going to Howard University in Washington, D.C., or Hampton University in Hampton, Va., where he will major in marketing. Nesbit said he also wants to get his master’s degree in communications and to become the chief marketing officer of a large corporation.

As for Nesbit’s motivation to succeed, it hits close to the heart. “I want to make my mom proud because she set a strong foundation for my sister and I envision myself being successful.” he said.

Nesbit’s mother passed away last year after a battle with cancer.

He isn’t the only one who envisions his future success. History teacher Antoine Everhart-Chappelle is one of Nesbit’s mentors and he said he constantly sees the developing leadership skills in his mentee. “He’s really emerged to be extremely confident and has great leadership skills and qualities,” said Everhart. “He is going to be great, especially in business sales to be specific.”

It seems that Nesbit has the support of the people most important to him, as well as that of his peers. He continues to expand his sphere of influence at school and his organizations include varsity football, Students of Excellence, Student Government Association and his role as class president.

As his high school career comes to a close Nesbit had some words of wisdom for those students currently coming up in life: “Take advantage of every opportunity you’re presented and never let anything stop you from being great in your life,” he said.
