College-bound football player KD Welch played as number 11 of the North Atlanta team this past fall.

North Atlanta football standout KD Welch, a four year veteran of Warrior squads, originally hails from Leilahua High, Hawaii. As a standout running back for the Warriors he has garnered Division 1 scouting looks for the last few years. Welsh has been a leader of the North Atlanta football team while showing tremendous growth in his years. Obviously, the students weren’t the only ones who noticed.

“Playing in Hawaii gave me the foundation to play how I do today,” said Welch.

The D1 prospect stated that as a child he never liked football and could never view himself being where he is today. There’s much our Warriors could learn from a player who’s battled in more places than just the Warrior field, but the team usually doesn’t want to pay attention to his wise remarks.

“The team does not want to vibe with my Hawaii playing traditions,” said Welch.

A few Division 1 NCAA football programs that have recruited Welch include: the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, University of Nebraska, Reinhardt University, University of Kansas, Jacksonville State University and Northwood University.

Despite this extensive list, Welch stated that no matter where he goes he just wants to return home to Hawaii eventually. When asked what he’d rather be doing other than playing football, you could expect that he only wants more sleep.

Welch recently signed to Northwood University, a D1AA school in Midland, Michigan. This opportunity may not guarantee more sleep for the athlete, but one thing that is for sure is that it will give him a strong start to a college football career.
